BRUSH APARTMENTS
FREMANTLE
Tyrone Group has completed a Heritage and Structural works contract on East Fremantle’s newest mixed use development which was originally a Brush factory.Works on the Category A listed Edwardian Style building began in June 2015 and works included the stabilisation and restoration of the original building well as the construction of 12 new apartments, a penthouse and offices in the adjacent site. The 116 year old brush factory building has been converted into a Restaurant/Jazz Bar as well as a performing arts studio. The Swan Brush Factory was owned by H Albrecht & Co and was opened by the former WA Premier John Forrest in 1901. It employed 18 people and produced a wide range of brush wares including brushes made from seaweed collected at the nearby Cottesloe Beach. The company ceased producing brushes in 1970 and in more recent years the building was home to Lauder and Howard who traded in Antiques and Fine Art. The newly refurbished building is due to open mid-2017.
