2006

Tyrone began with humble foundations in April 2006, originally operating as a small residential bricklaying team in Perth, trading as Tyrone Bricklaying. The original team consist of just two employees, one bricklayer and one labourer.

By November, the team expands to six and secures its first commercial bricklaying labour contract at St Mark’s High School in Hillary’s, working with EMCO Building.

2008

Tyrone opens its first office and warehouse in Balcatta. The team grows to 18 employees, marking the company’s early expansion and operational scale-up.

2010

Tyrone Bricklaying was awarded its first major restoration project: St Mary’s Cathedral in Victoria Square, Perth.

The project earned Tyrone the Master Builders Structural Works Award and the Overall WA Subcontractor of the Year in 2010.

The company also began training apprentices through the Building Education Revolution program, supporting skills development in the industry.

Tyrone Group engaged a number of Bricklaying Trainees and Apprentices as part of the governments Building Education Revolution Program in 2010.

2011

Reflecting its diversification beyond bricklaying, the company rebrands as Tyrone Group. With over 40 employees, Tyrone transitions into a full-service construction services provider.

2013

Tyrone Group was awarded its largest restoration project to date, part of the $105 million Restoration and Preservation of the State Treasury Buildings, now home to The Treasury Hotel.

2014

Now employing over 70 staff, Tyrone secured its largest contract to date at the $1.2 billion New Perth Children’s Hospital.

A dedicated Render and Specialist Plaster Division was established to support the company’s growing presence in the heritage and restoration sector.

2015

Tyrone achieved ISO accreditation for Quality (ISO 9001), Health & Safety (ISO 45001), and Environmental Management (ISO 14001) for the first time.

This milestone was complemented by the appointment of our first full-time Health and Safety Representative, underscoring our commitment to workplace safety and environmental responsibility.

2016

The business became a Registered Building company.

A new Concrete and Formwork Division was launched, and Tyrone started offering Structural Package Contracts to clients.

 

TYRONE GROUP WIN PRESTIGIOUS AWARD!
Tyrone Group was delighted to be awarded ‘Subcontractor of the Year for Structural’ by Master Builders 2016. The award was for ‘Construction Excellence’ for works completed on the Old Treasury Building in Perth, in conjunction with our client, Built.

Tyrone Group was very proud to receive this prestigious award for the second time! The company previously won this award in 2010 for works completed at St Mary’s Cathedral in Perth.

2016 APPRENTICE PROGRAM KICKS OFF!
Tyrone Group was delighted to commence its 2016 Apprenticeship program. Following careful consideration, two new enthusiastic Apprentices were selected to commence a 3-year Certificate III in Bricklaying. The apprentices were supported & guided by our expert Bricklayers and Supervisors to learn the trade of Bricklaying after which they were awarded a trade qualification which assisted them in their future careers in the Construction Industry. This program was aligned to our growth and succession planning strategy for the business.

2017

TYRONE GROUP – LAUNCHES MANAGEMENT TRAINING

Tyrone Group selected a number of key individuals across the business to undertake a Certificate IV in Leadership & Management – delivered by Lesley West from Betterlink Business Consultancy & Training Services.

Tyrone Group invested in the supervisor tier of the business to support future growth strategies. Investing in our people is paramount as they are the key links between our services and our clients. The course ran over 12 months and armed participants with further key skills to manage projects and lead our employees.

UPSKILLING OUR TEAMS

Congratulations to our team of Supervisors and Project Managers on successfully completing their Certificates IV in Leadership & Management. The training provided was part of the Tyrone Group approach on upskilling our employees and providing the tools necessary to deliver our services both efficiently and successfully to our clients. Succession planning was a key focus of our company, and we are delighted to have a team of focused and hard-working management on our projects. The course was delivered by Lesley West from Better Link Business Consultancy and Training Services over a one-year period.

PROUD OF OUR APPRENTICE!

Meet Tnisha Tonkin who has successfully completed her 2nd year Bricklaying apprenticeship with Tyrone Group. Tnisha was pictured at South Metropolitan TAFE Rockingham Campus with Bricklaying Lecturer David O Sullivan and was undertaking a Cavity Wall project. It was great to see females taking up Apprenticeships in Bricklaying – Well done Tnisha! Keep up the great work!

2018

WE MOVED!

Tyrone Group moved to a bigger premises in Balcatta to facilitate the expanding business operations.

CAROUSEL SHOPPING CENTRE EXPANSION

Tyrone Group was awarded the contract for the new Westfield Carousel Shopping Centre expansion.

The new $350M Extension seen the Centre grow to a 130,300 square metres and become the largest in Western Australia.  It was Tyrone Group’s largest shopping Centre project to date, and we employed up to hundred personnel on site.

WINNER – APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR!

A massive Congratulations to our Apprentice Tnisha Tonkin ‘WINNER’ of the Master Builders ‘Apprentice of the Year in Brick & Blocklaying’. Tnisha was also a finalist for the Female Apprentice of the Year Award. She had some stiff competition in both categories, however her enthusiasm and clear passion for the industry made her shine above others! We are very proud of Tnisha’s accomplishments and are delighted to be part of her journey in securing a career in the Bricklaying Industry! Well done to everyone involved with Tnisha’s training & nomination for this prestigious award.

Tyrone Group focuses on raising awareness of mental health & made a calendar to raise funds to support local charities. Made national news!

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY
On this Important day, Tyrone Group were delighted to have partnered with Rural Aid to support the Mental Health crisis in rural Australia.

We organised a Black Tie & Boots Ball on 24th November 2018 to help raise much needed funds.

The company began exploring advanced European Precision Construction Systems, initiating experimentation and development of a Precision Construction Concept tailored for the Australian market.

2020

TRAINEESHIP LAUNCH

Tyrone Group was excited to officially launch a one-year Traineeship, Certificate II in Building & Construction.

Each trainee would spend time working with all of our divisions (Bricklaying, Formwork, Concrete & Rendering) over the 12 months, which helped them decide which Trade Apprenticeship to choose thereafter.

We were delighted to be able to provide these young enthusiastic guys the chance to really understand each trade before making any big decisions which will impact their future careers.

Our team of Supervisors mentored and supported each individual, ultimately assisting the Australian economy with ensuring we have the skills base we need to help the construction industry grow in the future.

FIRST PRECAST CONCRETE PROJECT

We delivered our first precast concrete project at the Midland Oval Redevelopment, incorporating experimental sustainable precast moulding materials and prefabricated masonry feature wall panels.

This marked our key step in our innovation journey.

2021

WE MOVED AGAIN!
We have moved premises to 9 Mumford Place, Balcatta to accommodate the growth of our Precast Concrete Division and the continued development of Precision Construction Components.

BETON PRECAST PRODUCTS LAUNCH
Tyrone Group launched a brand-new product into Western Australia called the ‘Beton Interlocking Block’ which was originally created and sold extensively across Europe.

The product is a repositionable stacking system whereby the blocks firmly interlock without the use of mortar. The system has limitless construction uses and is ideal for either temporary or permanent building structures and can be used multiple times. The blocks can be manufactured in a wide variety of colours and finishes and can also be made with recycled concrete if required. We produced over 700 blocks for the Blue Phoenix Waste-to-Energy Plant.

 

PREFABRICATED MODULAR
Tyrone also successfully manufactured and installed our first prefabricated masonry modular bathroom and laundry unit, built in our Balcatta warehouse and transported over 600 km to Kalbarri, arriving without damage, highlighting the viability of off-site construction.

2022

TRAINING & UPSKILLING

Tyrone Group kicked off the new year with a new 12-month training program for our teams – Certificate IV in Building & Construction (Site Supervision).

We are delighted to be able to offer this program to a number of our employees as it helps support their professional development and also allows the company the opportunity to upskill our greatest assets – Our People – and succession plan for the future!

PRECAST CONCRETE “T” WALL RETAINING SYSTEM

Tyrone engineered and tested the system, successfully installed in a complex 3-level residential basement project.

The entire basement was completed in just 11 days, and the full home was delivered in 23 weeks, a timeline reduction of over 75% compared to traditional methods.

This milestone highlights the commercial readiness of our Precision Construction Systems.

2023

WE’RE GROWING!

Tyrone moved into a new 3-acre facility at 42 Paramount Drive, Wangara, enabling the Precision Construction Division to progress from R&D to full-scale commercial production.

Our Head Contracting Division delivers its first commercial Precision Construction System project, a 17 metre-high media tower for Racing and Wagering WA.

Originally designed as a conventional build, Tyrone re-engineered the structure into modular components, manufactured them off-site, and completed on-site installation at Pinjarra Racetrack in just one day.

A landmark achievement in modular delivery and innovation.

2024

TYRONE

Tyrone Group rebranded and simplified its trading name to “Tyrone”, reflecting the integration of its growing divisions under a unified identity.

With continued investment in innovation and capacity, Tyrone scaled up the commercialisation of its Precision Construction System Components, signaling a new era of streamlined, high-performance building solutions.

2025

PRECISION CONSTRUCTION

Tyrone’s Precision Construction platform gains significant momentum.

Following successful structural lifting and destructive testing of our Prefabricated Masonry Wall Panels, Tyrone becomes the first company in Australia to build structural brick walls off-site.

Production is scaled to manufacture 360 prefabricated wall panels for a Government-funded social housing project in North Coogee, delivering 38 architect-designed apartments using precision components.

Tyrone also completes the design and engineering of its Modular Wet Area and begins manufacturing prefabricated bathroom modules at the Wangara facility. The first rollout includes 51-bathroom modules as part of a major contract delivered by Tyrone’s new Precision Construction Division.
