MELBOURNE

HOTEL

Tyrone Group is pleased to have completed work on the refurbishment of the Melbourne Hotel in Perth. Originally built in 1885, the hotel is being given an estimated 40 million dollar facelift to transform the heritage listed building into a new 67 bedroom facility complete with a three storey conservatory. Most of the hotels original features will remain and we are proud to be involved with preserving its legacy for future generations.

The landmark building opened first in April 1897 during a construction boom brought about by the 1890’s gold rush where customers where promised “ a good table, clean beds, airy rooms, shower baths and moderate charges.

The heritage councils assessment stated “its elegant first floor balcony cantilevered out over the pavement to both streets, the high ceilings and grand manner of the facades, speak eloquently of the social significance of the late 19th century hotels”

The building has maintained much of its original features and now boats 73 rooms including the original 22 heritage rooms, a two level conservatory, function rooms and five food and drink venues.
