ST MARY’S
CATHEDRAL
Tyrone Group was awarded Structural and overall Sub-contractor Of The Year by Master Builders in 2010 for our work on the restoration of St Marys Cathedral.
Work on the original building began in 1863 and Tyrone Group helped transform it into the largest place of worship in the southern hemisphere. Tyrone constructed the under croft area under the existing building, the feature limestone on the cathedral as well as reconstructing the gothic arches on the interior of the original building. Our most interesting work on the project was constructing the hexagonal shaped crypt which sits directly under the altar in the main cathedral to house the remains of past and future arch-bishops of Perth.
